Willie Dixon - If The Sea Was Whiskey

Certamente o maior compositor e arranjador de Chicago do pós-guerra. Dixon tocou baixo em várias bandas de Chicago, até 1948, quando assinou com a gravadora Chess. As composições de Willie Dixon não ficaram restritas à  turma do blues e fizeram um elo com as bandas e cantores do rock como Chuck Berry fez com o rock’n’roll dos 50’s. Alguns exemplos: Spoonful: gravada pelo Cream, Back Door Man: The Doors, You Shook Me e I Ain’t Superstitious: Jeff Beck Group, You Shook Me e I Can't Quit You Baby: Led Zeppelin, I Just Want to Make Love To You e Little Red Rooster: The Rolling Stones, Hoochie Coochie man: Eric Clapton, Wang Dang Doodle: Love Sculpture. Algumas gravações originais pelos bluseiros: Howlin' Wolf: Evil (1954), Little Red Hooster, I Ain't Superstitious e Back Door Man (1961), Otis Rush: I Can't Quit You Baby (1956), Muddy Waters: Hoochie Coochie Man, I Just Want to Make Love to You (1954) e You Shook Me (1962), Little Walter: My Babe (1954). Se esse cara não existisse, o blues não seria mesmo.
