Tocou com Chris Farlowe (Chris Farlowe And The Thunderbirds), Eric Clapton, Dave Edmunds, Everly Brothers, Emmylou Harris (Emmylou Harris & The Hot Band), participou das bandas The Crickets, Heads, Hands & Feet, Country Fever, Albert Lee & Hogan’s Heroes, etc. Considerado por Eric Clapton um dos melhores guitarristas do mundo e é só ouvir Country Boy para concordar com ele. Por outro lado também é perfeito em baladas como Evangelina, canção de Clapton que Albert Lee interpreta com a mesma suavidade que usava nos folks de Dylan no final dos anos 60 e a visível  influência do estilo de Dave Edmunds - Singing The Blues, I'm Comin' Home. O cara é muito bom!
