Dave Edmunds & Love Sculpture - Think Of Love

Bem antes de produzir bandas como Brinsley Schwarz e Flamin' Groovies, antes da bem sucedida parceria com Nick Lowe & Rockpile, dos grandes trabalhos com Stray Cats, Everly Brothers e Johnny Cash, Dave Edmunds foi um grande bluesman. Tanto quanto os contemporâneos Eric Clapton ou Peter Green e aquele blues-rock psicodélico enlouquecedor que eles faziam. Inspirado em John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, o Love Sculpture foi um pioneiro “power trio” formado em 1966 por Dave Edmunds nos vocais e guitarra, John Williams no baixo e Bob "Congo" Jones na bateria. Nos proporcionaram incendiárias e estridentes versões das canções de Willie Dixon, Freddie King, Ray Charles, Tim Rose, Elmore James, George Gershwin, etc. Sabre Dance de Aram Khachaturian, tornou-se um alucinado e agressivo rock instrumental de uma pegada invejável pra qualquer guitarrista. Em 1972, já em carreira solo Dave grava o discaço Rockpile com pérolas como Hell Of a Pain e I Hear You Knocking (essa última o single preferido de John Lennon no ano que foi lançado), mantendo o peso do Love Sculpture mas caminhando para o som que viria em seus próximos trabalhos: muito pop de qualidade, country, pub rock, blues, R&B  e rockabilly. Eu o considero também um dos maiores intérpretes de Chuck Berry e do nosso velho rock’n’roll.
